UDMX NODE MANUAL
Art-Net is a network protocol which sending network packets, Art-Net nodes always have an IP address and a Subnet Mask, just like a computer, which very often printed on the device itself, or you can find it in the manual - most nodes are configurable with their own setup tool. Since both 3 and 5 pin XLR cables can be used for DMX setups, most of the manufacturers gives you the freedom to choose what connectors you need on the node. These devices usually have one Ethernet and one or multiple XLR connectors. Some fixtures may using several channels to control various parameters like pan, tilt, red, green, blue but there are things like mono-color LED strips with dimmers which can be controlled on a single DMX channel. One DMX channel controls one parameter - for example the intensity of a dimmer.
UDMX NODE SERIES
This is handy to send ArtNET to a custom made application or to override the information a node is automatically sending. We decided to start a series of articles to help you to dive into the land of stage lighting - which could be a bit scary territory if you never met this stuff before, but do not worry, here we go! You can manually add a node by clicking the add button. Note that broadcasting is particularly inefficient when using a wireless network. When there is no subscription, Lightjams will fallback to the broadcast mode to allow backward compatibility with older ArtNET nodes. You have two monitors: One for the 16 input universes and another for the output universes. Your best friends when it comes to troubleshooting the ArtNET underworld. Hit the refresh button to look for new nodes. For each node, you see its name, ip and subscribed unicast universes. This is useful when controlling lots of LEDs. All 16 universes of this subnet will be available as DMX input values. The loopback adapter Input : Select your input subnet. Lightjams supports all ArtNET versions from 1 to 4. With ArtNET and Lightjams, you'll be able to send data directly to the nodes you want and get great performance even when sending multiple universes. The reason is that broadcasting very rapidly overloads a wireless network. You can map any DMX values to Lightjams parameters in a few clicks. Easily receive commands from other lighting consoles over ArtNET. Totally free! Lightjams can really be the work horse of your show and talk directly to your DMX fixtures. The ArtNetominator can help you troubleshoot your ArtNet problems. You only need those when you want to send actual DMX values to your lighting fixtures.ĪrtNET is already an industry standard and more and more lighting equipment will support it in the future. Since it uses the network to transmit and receive data, no special DMX cable and converter are needed.
